This is like the original Warcraft, only you cant control exact units and you dont get gold from mines.
Yet, it works.
Not without problems...
You must strategically build your village, then kingdom based on what units you have. These units then wander around of their own free will and generally attack when needed. This makes it easier to control for small screens, but if you want them to go more aggressive, you kind of have to offer rewards to them...and once they are on, it is nearly impossible to call retreat when enemies ambush them.
The font telling what happened is ➖way➖ too small.
The general information is vague and takes time to learn what does what. (I still havent figured some of it out and I played through the tutorial.)
The AI isnt great. Rangers tend to be the worst at kamakazi tactics. Even though they are ranged, they let the enemy get up right in their faces and they dont back down.
There are balance issues. If you dont get warriors or paladins out quickly, you lose.
But I enjoy it so far.
This is a pretty good strategy game. It is the most like a classic Warcraft that I have yet played that allows you to be offline when you play. This is good news for iPod users and people who dont always want their data plan being used.
